WORSHIP AND MINISTRY THEME FOR 2015: Continuing “THE WAY”

Teacher, we know you are sincere, and teach the way of God in accordance with truth.

                                                                                                                           Matthew 22:16

Focus: Learning to live The Way of God.

In our time of dwelling on the parables of Jesus in 2014, we were intently focused on the core of Jesus’ teaching concerning “the way of God.” By focusing specifically on Jesus’ teaching in story, we were invited to see and hear The Way — the way God reigns; the way of living in God’s kingdom; the way God’s heart is revealed; and the way people love God and love others. Now, in 2015, we widen our scope and expand our study to discern the pattern of The Way as revealed in the whole of scripture.

Goal:  To continue the practice of living the way of God in accordance with the word of truth.

Methods: Reading and Reflecting on the Whole of Scripture

As people who are continually being transformed by God’s Spirit, we will now join with many within the wider Church to walk the way together. We will do this by participating in the practice of following a common course of reading the scriptures known as the “Revised Common Lectionary” (If you would like more information on the lectionary, you might visit http://www.ask.com/wiki/Revised_Common_Lectionary?lang=en.)

I believe that following a shared reading pattern can be transformational. This year I invite you to join together with believers around the globe in a schedule that involves reading and reflecting on four scripture texts each week (generally, two readings from the New Testament and two from the Old). The reading/reflecting schedule will be posted in ways both electronic and written throughout the year.

Preaching – Teaching – Schedule

We will be following the Revised Common Lectionary, Year B.
